The UNLEASH  WIP Prize

Unleash Work-in-Progress (WIP) Award 2024 (January 15 – July 15, 2024)

We aim to assist writers with an important literary project and vision. The Unleash WIP Award offers writers holistic support to aid a book-length work of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or hybrid. Writers will receive editorial feedback, a coaching call, $500 US, and an excerpt/interview feature in Unleash Lit. This contest is designed to support writers who are just starting or have been toiling away but need a little boost to keep going. The Unleash Board of Directors will select the winner.

“This contest is designed to support an artist with a clear vision who would benefit from mentorship to finish a writing project.” –Jen Knox, Executive Director, Unleash

Entries will be judged on originality, emotional resonance, and the author’s vision. More information is here.

Theme: Partnerships, The Untold Stories (closing for subs on 3/1)

Partners are an integral aspect of military life, at home and afar, during deployment and after homecoming. Partnerships drive military action and extend beyond being a battle buddy, wingman, or crew member. Some are planned while others arise in unexpected ways. Spouses, family, old or new friends, community, faith leaders, and medical specialists all support the military community.

Despite their importance, the stories of these partnerships often go untold. This anthology aims to correct that: use this space to highlight the nuances, surprises, joy, sorrow, heroism, tears, healing power, or ache of your own partnerships. Submit a piece of art that embodies the partnerships from your journey, and we'll help you tell that story.
